Family Spotlight

Tony Klonowski and staff at Consumers National Bank

The Klonowski Family

For the Klonowski family, Canton has always been home. From childhood days at Belle Stone and Harter Elementaries to local family traditions like the 33rd Annual John Klonowski Memorial Scratch Singles Bowling Tournament held in at Eastbury Bowling Lanes in February of this year, the Klonowskis have deep roots in the community.

Tony Klonowski continues that legacy as Branch Relationship Manager at Consumers National Bank’s Downtown Canton location. Through his work, they support Canton City Schools, local athletics, and community initiatives, helping families and students thrive both financially and personally.

"Consumers National Bank is a proud supporter of Canton City Schools and Athletics, and I personally look forward to continuing to grow our partnership through supporting Canton City School's employees, families, and students through financial education opportunities and being a community-based option to help with all banking needs." – Tony Klonowski

We love when our Family Spotlight and Community Partners overlap, and this month we’re proud to feature Tony Klonowski and celebrate a legacy that blends family, community, and partnerships.

Job Training Students at Whispering Grace Horse Farm

Building Empathy, Skills, and Connections through Horses

Whispering Grace Horses provides a safe and positive environment where healing, growth, and connection flourish through the bond between humans and horses.

Our Job Training students have the opportunity to visit Whispering Grace, gaining hands-on experience caring for the horses through feeding, grooming, and general maintenance. These experiences teach practical skills while fostering empathy, patience, and teamwork.

By partnering with organizations like Whispering Grace, our students develop valuable life and job skills while contributing to a meaningful cause. We are proud to support their mission of building connections, nurturing growth, and making a lasting impact on the lives of both the horses and the people who care for them.

A Legacy of Kindness: Dave Tomey and Feed Kids First

Dave Tomey, a Timken High School alumnus, lived a life devoted to service, quietly supporting children, the elderly, and those in need. Growing up in a large, immigrant family on Canton’s Northeast end, he experienced poverty firsthand—his family never even owned a car. These early challenges shaped his compassion and lifelong commitment to helping others.

After serving in the military, Dave built a career at Conrail while supporting his family as the eldest son. He gave generously of his time and heart: delivering blankets to Refuge of Hope, shopping for winter coats for children in need, visiting nursing home residents, and preparing meals for friends who were ill. Though not wealthy, he showed that kindness requires only a good heart.

In his honor, the Pantry at the Timken Career Campus was dedicated posthumously, supported by the Tomey Family and Feed Kids First. The dedication plaque reads:

“In recognition of a life devoted to kindness, generosity, and service to others. Your legacy continues to nourish children and families through the work of Feed Kids First, ensuring every child has access to healthy food they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Feeding Children. Fueling Futures.”

Through this pantry, Dave’s legacy continues, helping children and families across the community access the healthy food they need to grow and thrive.

Family & Community Event Highlight

Santa and The Grinch

Celebrate the Holidays in Style

We had a jolly good ole time as Canton City Schools welcomed more than 500 families and students for our very first holiday photo event! Our Bulldogs munched cookies and popcorn, enjoyed festive activities, and of course, got unlimited time with the “big guy” himself… and his mischievous friend, The Grinch.

It was sweet, it was silly, and it was a whole lot of holiday fun—just like a Bulldog celebration should be!
