Renzy Parnell as Head Football Coach
The Canton City School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Renzy Parnell as the new Head Football Coach for Canton McKinley Senior High School. Parnell brings over 20 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of success.
Coach Parnell joins the McKinley Bulldogs after a successful tenure as the Defensive Coordinator at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, where he helped develop one of the top defenses in the region and won five state championships.
Known for his ability to enhance team performance through meticulous film breakdown and tactical game planning, Parnell has consistently demonstrated game expertise and motivational leadership.
Parnell said he is excited to join the McKinley family.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build a culture based on love, and to lead young men to fulfill their full potential,” he said, adding that one of his priorities will be to assemble a coaching staff that shares the same vision and values that he and the administration shares.
To the players and fans, he said, “Be excited! There will be challenges and tough love moments. I understand that I will not please everyone, but God will be at the core of my values, and we will strive to be the best at what we do!”
Mike Schott, Athletic Director at Canton McKinley, expressed his enthusiasm for the hire:
"Coach Parnell brings a wealth of successful coaching experience and numerous state titles. He has all the qualities we were looking for to lead our program, and we are ready to start. We are confident that his ability to build character and instill discipline will create a winning culture beyond the field."
Scott Russ, President of the Board of Education, said he was extremely pleased with district leadership and its diligent and thoughtful process in securing this hire.

His coaching ability and passion for the game will make a significant impact not only on our football program but also on our entire community.
