Family Spotlight

The Andersons

Pre-Engineering at CCSD: A Tradition in the Anderson Family

At Canton City Schools, some classrooms don’t just shape students—they spark family traditions. This month, we’re proud to spotlight the Anderson family, where a father and all three of his children have shared a remarkable connection through our Pre-Engineering program.

Years ago, Kevin Anderson sat in Mr. Bill Small’s drafting class, the foundation of today’s Pre-Engineering program. His path led him to become a self-employed artist, where creativity and design remain central to his work.

Following in his footsteps, daughter Romy Anderson studied Pre-Engineering under Mr. Chad Weaver before graduating from Kent State in Textile Design. Today, she thrives in Cleveland as a textile artist and teacher at Praxis Fiber Workshop, blending tradition and innovation on both hand and digital looms.

The Anderson legacy continued with Joey, who, before earning a BFA in acting from Montclair State, also took Pre-Engineering during his junior year. Now the youngest, Jace, proudly carries the torch—balancing his Pre-Engineering class with his roles in the McKinley High School band and as a three-year letterman on the Bulldog swim team. And while mom Jennifer may be a Hoover grad, we hear she’s more than happy to cheer on her Bulldog crew!

Seeing multiple generations of one family connect through the same program is a powerful reminder of the lasting legacy built in our classrooms. Canton City Schools continues to inspire learners—past, present, and future—to dream big and build boldly.

Community Partner Spotlight

Beat Massillon

The McKinley/Massillon Rivalry: More Than a Game!

The excitement of McKinley–Massillon Week isn’t just on the field—it’s in our community, too! Each year, we turn the rivalry into an opportunity to give back by supporting local nonprofits that directly impact our students and families.
Here’s how you can get involved:
  • WHBC Food Fight – Canned food drive benefiting the Stark County Hunger Task Force
  • The Blood Battle – Blood Donation sponsored by the American Red Cross
  • Mascot vs. Mascot Donation Drive – Pet Food Drive supporting Meals on Wheels’ Wheels for Wags program
Your support makes all the difference! Together, we can show that our Bulldog pride goes far beyond the scoreboard.

Family & Community Event Highlight

Walk To End Hunger

NHS Hosts 2nd Annual Walk to End Hunger

On September 20, the National Honor Society held its 2nd Annual Walk to End Hunger, a two-mile event supporting Feed Hunger First, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity “one child at a time.” The program serves 14 Canton City School buildings through emergency pantries, holiday and summer meal boxes, and student snacks. Students, staff, families, and community members came together to raise awareness and take action against hunger.

We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who walked, donated, and supported this effort, especially our sponsors: East Central Ohio Education Association, Canton Professional Educators’ Association, Harmon’s Pub, Henderson Roofing and Construction, Raff Road Giant Eagle, Canton Police Department, City of Canton, Silent T's Decorated Apparel, and Jackie Talbert. Your support helps us continue fighting hunger in our community with hope, purpose, and unity.

Thank You for Joining Us!
