The Canton City Schools Parent Advisory Group (PAG) serves as a structured way for parents/families to provide input, feedback, and support to schools or districts. Our main purpose is to strengthen the relationship between families and schools to improve educational outcomes for students while staying committed to our district vision, mission and core values.

Key Purposes of our Parent Advisory Group:

1. Representation and Advocacy:

• Represents the voices of diverse families, including underrepresented communities.
• Advocates for student needs and family concerns to school administrators or boards.

2. Partnership and Engagement:

• Encourages family engagement in school activities, decision-making, and governance.
• Collaborates on projects that support school improvement or student success.

3. Communication Bridge:

• Helps improve communication between school leadership and families.
• Shares important school or district updates with the broader parent community.

4. Advisory Role:

• Offers parent perspectives on school or district policies, programs, and initiatives.
• Provides feedback on issues like curriculum, school safety, special education, or equity.

5. Support and Feedback:

• Reviews proposed changes (e.g., to school schedules, disciplinary policies).
• Gives constructive feedback to ensure decisions reflect family needs.

Our hope is to give parents/guardians/families a meaningful voice in helping to shape and influence the educational environment, and to support collaborative decision-making within the Canton City School District.

McKinley Parent Group

The McKinley Parent Group serves the same purpose as the district’s Parent Advisory Group but focuses more specifically on matters related to the high school.

Participants Include:

• Parents/guardians/families of children in the district
